About GPM
German Press Mumbai was launched by the German journalist Andrea Roeder in 2008. She
has worked for public broadcasting stations and on online projects while studying journalism in Germany. Furthermore, she gained valuable experience while working at the federal press office of the German government and the news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa).
After completing her editorial traineeship with the regional newspaper Potsdamer Neueste Nachrichten (PNN) and its parent company Der Tagesspiegel in Berlin, she continued working as a freelancing reporter for PNN.
Meanwhile, her passion for travelling and other cultures led her to explore various opportunities across the globe – she participated in a journalism workshop in Russia, studied as a scholar in Pennsylvania and worked in New York City for one year. When Andrea Roeder went to India for the first time, she was instantly fascinated by this country and all its contrasts which she is now covering for GPM on a day-to-day basis.
